On Sunday September 15, 2013 day two of the Monster Energy Aftershock Festival took place at Discovery Park near downtown Sacramento.
Day two featured 16 bands. The gates opened at 11:00am and the last band played till 10:00pm just like day one, it was another full day of rock & roll. One band (Airbourn) had to cancel for unknown reasons.
The bands on day two included, Gemini Syndrome, Falling In Reverse, Asking Alexandria, Halestorm, A Day To Remember, Avenged Sevenfold, Hell Or High Water, All That Remains, HIM, Volbeat, Five Finger Death Punch, Miss May I, Thousand Foot Krutch, Soil, Pop Evil and Filter.
In this examiner's opinion, 2013 Grammy winners Halestorm stole the entire festival, these guys & gal really played an awesome set, Lizzy Hale is not only very beautiful, her vocals are superb and she can shred on guitar. The entire band blew the place away.
All the bands played very well, the park rocked all day. Hopefully next year will be even better, we'll just have to wait and see.
There was a lot of food venders on site, just about anything you wanted. The only thing this examiner noticed that could use some work on next year was the concert shirt vendors, there was only two places to get shirts, people had to stand in line way to long, only to find out that that their size was sold out or the shirt they wanted was gone. One would think that with so nany concert goers, they would have enough merch to go around. Very bad planning in the concert shirt department, hopefully for next year, they learned their lesson.
There was plenty of meet & greets throughout the day, several bands did signings and photo opps for their fans, of coarse the lines were long as you might imagine, but to the real fans, it was worth the wait.
If you missed the show this year, you really missed a good one. Be sure not to miss next year, it was well worth the ticket price to see so many awesome bands on one or in this case two days of pure rock & roll.
A great time was had by all.
