Football season is upon us. Arlington, Texas is home of Jerry's World and the perfect place to watch a game. Monday night football is a great time to get out and check out places to catch the game. One disclaimer to mention is that the Cowboys were not playing this particular Monday. With that being said, the crowd was much more sparse than expected. Surprisingly, there were still patio tables available at kick off.
The main draw to Boomerjacks on "Any Given Monday" are the awesome drink specials. $ 2 u call its are hard to beat. This is basically what is known to bar frequenters as "crown and down." Premium liquors, such as Grey Goose and Patron are excluded. There is also a surcharge for "on the rocks" beverages. I must also add that the drinks are not watered down versions.
Let's talk food. This is a bar and grill. If you are looking for a five star meal keep it moving. The dishes are typical pub food such as burgers, quesadillas and nachos. For the health conscience they have a few types of salads. The one dish to stay away from is the loaded cheddar fries, otherwise your paralyzed bowels will be hating you the next morning. The only way to explain it would be "mountain of slightly melted cheddar cheese, sprinkled with a few fries."
The layout of Boomerjacks in south Arlington is unique although small. This is a converted Hoffbrau's. It would of been smarter to wait for a bigger space. A great feature is the see-across bar. Sitting on the patio, you can see through to the inside dining area and vice-versa. This detracts from the need to make faux restroom trips to check out the other scene. This is more applicable to the single crowd. There is also a small upstairs area chock full of tables. This area is a ghost town until seating runs out. It is hard to move around and gets hot quickly.
The music is piped through speakers which is played from a new age juke box known as Touch Tunes. For those of you always looking for an easy button there is an app you can download on your phone. You can scroll through the very limited music selection and pay for it on your phone as well. The great thing about watching the game here is the amount of flat screen televisions and their placement. You can literally sit anywhere except the bathroom and not miss a play. The service was fabulous. Our waitress, Danielle, was super attentive. Her trainer and the manager also came by to check on our guest experience.
All in all, Boomerjacks in south Arlington is a fabulous spot to watch the game on Monday night. It is a great central location in a hip shopping center.
