If you’re looking for a great barbecue restaurant in Mobile, Alabama, Moe’s Original BBQ is one that you just have to try. The restaurant opened in January of 2013 and started getting rave reviews right away. To find out why everyone is talking about this downtown dining establishment, all you have to do is stop in and try the food.
Great Food at Moe’s
The PR team for Moe’s invited me to stop by the downtown Mobile, AL Moe’s location with a companion during opening month to try a few of the most popular dishes, and I’m certainly glad that I did! I’ll definitely be going back on my own.
- Pimento Cheese and Chips: The first dish I tried was something I have to say that I never would have actually ordered on my own. It’s an appetizer called “Pimento Cheese & Chips” - and the dish is exactly what the name indicates. While a plate of pimento cheese and homemade potato chips may seem like a strange combination, it’s definitely one worth tasting.
- Smoked Sausage: There is an option to “add sausage” to the Pimento Cheese & Chips. I strongly suggest that you do. My very picky husband (who was my companion) declared that it was the “best sausage ever” - and sausage is one of his very favorite foods. It’s a spicy sausage that comes from Mississippi, and it’s quite flavorful.
- Sampler Platter: The menu has so many options that it can seem overwhelming when you check out all the options. I highly recommend the sampler platter, because it’ll give you a chance to try several different meats and side dishes. It comes with chicken, turkey, pork, ribs, wings, cornbread and three sides. Everything I tried was outstanding - Moe’s truly has some of the best barbecue I’ve had in Mobile or anywhere else. The cornbread was unique and awesome, and I was really happy to discover that they serve a vinegar-based slaw rather than a mayo version.
Moe's has a number of other options that I didn't have a chance to try on this visit, including catfish, shrimp, salad, sandwiches and nachos. No matter what kind of food you like, chance are that you'll find a new favorite here!
Located just east of Broad Street, where Springhill Avenue and Dauphin Street meet, this restaurant is a great location to meet up with friends for a meal or to visit with your family. It’s a great place to enjoy lunch or dinner any time of the week.
Music at Moe’s
Moe’s offers more than great food. There’s also a large “band room” in the back where you can hear great local music while enjoying cold beverages and hot barbecue. Check out the entertainment poster on the front of the restaurant to find out when your favorite band will be playing.
