Following up her debut project "Worship Soul", Anita Wilson establishes that her roots are the foundation for longevity on her Motown Gospel sophomore project "Vintage Worship" produced by Chicago's own award winning producer extraordinaire Rick Robinson. Mixing retro vibes of the 70s to modern day worship, "Vintage Worship" is a modern classic. Despite being told that her music was not for Gospel radio, Anita forged ahead determined to leave her mark in the industry.

If you weren't born in the 70s or at least heard your parents playing 45s and LPs, you missed a pivotal decade in the music world. So much transpired in those short, but long 10 years, that have shaped music for years to come. Of course, we think of some of the biggest hits by Marvin Gaye, The Jackson Five, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Isaac Hayes, Nina Simone, EWF, Curtis Mayfield and others that lit the secular market afire, but the Gospel music industry had its own heavy-hitters such as Andrae Crouch, The Winans (The Testimonial Singers), Walter Hawkins, Edwin Hawkins, Tramaine Hawkins, The Clark Sisters, Frank Williams (The Jackson Southernaires/Mississippi Mass Choir), Whitley Phipps, Howard Smith and that's just scratching the surface. Those artists broke down walls that said that Gospel music was only supposed to sound a certain way.

A lot of those same artists were influenced by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, Mahalia Jackson, Marian Anderson, Sam Cooke (The Soul Stirrers), Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan, who were all very instrumental in forming and cultivating the big band, swing, jazz and bebop era. Thus creating an atmosphere for more artists to tap into their "creative minds" along with the anointing that God placed on their lives to bring forth Gospel music we call "old school" or "traditional". Those eras begat decades thereafter of great Gospel music consisting of artists/groups Commissioned, Witness, Dawkins & Dawkins, Ricky Dillard, Donald Lawrence, Fred Hammond, Smokie Norful, Israel Houghton, Ami Rushes, Kirk Franklin, Jonathan McReynolds, Kierra Sheard among others. Even the Bible mentions that there is nothing new under the sun.

Well, Ms. Anita Wilson falls into the group of newcomers that showcase their talents with an undercurrent of their influences rounding out their sound. Now, everyone can not pull off such a feat, however Anita has showed that she was up to the challenge when she released her single "Jesus Will", which sparked an overabundance of radio play throughout the nation. Certainly on her sophomore project, Anita didn't shy away from fusing her style of retro Gospel music.

On this new project, you'll find that Anita Wilson has all the makings of classic-modern day hits. From the first track to last, you can't miss her heart for God. If you're looking for high-octane praise, "Vintage Worship's" debut single "That's What He's Done For Me" gives you exactly what you need with it's Andrae Crouch/Thompson Community Choir flavor. There's something for those who like grown folk smooth vibes on "Reasons (Don't Ever Take Your Love Away)" featuring notable veteran producer, songwriter and singer Tommy Sims. Whether you're getting your praise on or worshipping God from your heart, you're sure to find just what you need on Anita Wilson's "Vintage Worship" album. Download it at midnight from iTunes and purchase the your vinyl copy from her website while supplies last.
