MN Orchestra and Video Games Live create music spectacular

Friday night brought a cutting-edge masterpiece to Minneapolis, as Video Games Live took over Orchestra Hall.  The show, hosted by Video Game icon, Tommy Tallarico, showcases the magnificent music of classic video games in a beautiful production.

Video game montages of the games were shown on a big screen while the great Minnesota Orchestra played the music from the games.  In addition, Tallarico played guitar throughout the show and engaged the audience in conversation.  There were even video game contests throughout the show (with Frogger and Guitar Hero) that involved some excited audience members.

At one point, Tallarico showed off his Tron underpants!  The show had the audience clapping along and smiling to songs from Zelda, Super Mario, Rock Man, Chrono Triggers, Final Fantasy 7, Halo, and many others.  One highlight was, perhaps, when singer, Laura "flute link" Intravia, played a solo dressed up as Link from Zelda.

While most of the audience were video game fanatics, you could also find older couples who never played games, and girlfriends who didn't realize that video game music was so good.  Video games and music belong together.  In other words, this show was awesome!
