Thursday Evening, September 12th 2013, while in Vegas; I watched the most splendid, remarkable performance tribute to Michael Jackson, show at the Crown Theater inside the Rio.
The #1 Michael Jackson tribute show in the world. Featuring all his biggest hits including Bad, Billie Jean, Beat It, Dangerous, Smooth Criminal, Black & White, I Want You Back and many others. Relive the energy, excitement, spectacle and pure joy of this legendary superstar and his music. Witness the awesome sound, lighting and effects. Feel the energy from the mega talented MJ LIVE dancers. Sing along to some of the greatest hits of all time. (mjlive.com)
The show began promptly at 9, and plays seven days a week. Just before the show got started, I turned to another patron to interview. Mr. Turner Armstrong, from Jacksonville, Mississippi who was visiting Vegas for the Canelo/Maywether fight; decided to watch the show upon their arrival into town. When asked what his expectation of the show are, he explains; “I am looking for realness, some old time MJ dance moves and I want to know if this impersonator will nail it”.When asked, what would make this an epic fail for you, he responds; “If the guy performing looks nothing like MJ and of course if he does not have the moves down.”
Throughout the show I could hear Mr. Turner and his guest screaming throughout the performance, clapping, singing along to all songs. They were on their feet at one point mimicking the famous moonwalk move as well as the popping lock. I think it was safe to say they enjoyed the performance, expectations were met and they got their money worth. But just to be sure, I asked Mr. Turner guest, Alex Harrison, all the way from DC to watch the most anticipated fight in boxing history; if he was pleased with the performance. To which he replied, “Absolutely! I enjoyed it, would recommend and would probably see again if I were to come back soon. It reminded me of when I saw MJ perform back in the day. I saw him perform two or three times and I even saw him when he was ‘Jackson Five’, so I can say this was a pretty nice MJ Tribute."
All in all I enjoyed the show as well. I thought the moves were solid, the energy was that of MJ in the flesh. The performer and dancers have obviously studied a real MJ Show and done a wonderful job at pulling this tribute off.
