(Mixtape Review) King Co - Golden Moments

King Co’s “Golden Moments” mixtape has locked in over 9,800 downloads since its release date on Datpiff, during the thanksgiving holiday. Golden Moments did impressive numbers in the first week of the drop, which is commandable for an underground mixtape. So, I’m pretty sure King Co will be able to imprint this accomplishment as a certified “Golden Moment” with many more to come.

The 15 track mixtape features production from Swiffy Beats, Knucklehead and Pots n Pans productions. There’s no misconception about King Co’s intentions to annihilate the rap game, as he invites all to check out his raw lyrical pedigree and sending a well delivered message to whoever doubts the King and his call to the throne.

The titled “Golden Moments” intro sets the temperament of what’s in store. It channels over small excerpts from national historical events of our past time, including Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, the George Forman/Joe Frazier heavyweight championship boxing match (Down goes Frazier!) and the notable 2008 44th presidential election proclaiming the first African American President, Barack Obama. –That was pretty dope!

King Co demonstrates his versatile flow and brash vernacular on joints such as “I Spazz”, “Red Light Green Light” and “Immaculate Pt. 1”, just to plug a few, showing that he can rip over any beat with assertion with his baritone southern drawl. Co flips the switch for a moment to serenade his women audience, real trill like of course, on a track called “Hopeless Romantic” ft. Aubrey Mikel. Hey, even G’s need love to! With every track played, you interpret a different feel and it’s not one track on this mixtape you can’t help but to feel. Welcome to Golden Moments. Enjoy!

My top picks:

You and Eye
I Be So High
I Spazz
B.N.F.A (Bar None, Fade All)
