Lolo makes a mark wherever she goes and you never know where she will be just ask Butch Walker, Amir Salem, Alex Goose, Jacob Scott Sinclair, and Brendan Urie who co-wrote the Panic! At The Disco hit single “Miss Jackson” along with the other Miss Jackson, Lolo, who is otherwise known as Lauren Pritchard but that’s if you’re from Jackson. Her travels take her from London, to Brooklyn to Los Angeles and many more places which make the song fit the perpetrator.
At 25, Lolo is finally coming into her own after years of being molded by a plethora of producers who are “the best in the biz.” Her lyrics were always edgy. It’s just that her new releases finally do justice to the amazing vocal range of Lolo. Her recently debuted ”Weapon For Saturday” release is already a hit on the Alternative-Indie-Pop charts. Lolo’s lyrics are slick, seductive aggressive and authoritarian. She is no accessory and warns you that she can handle herself. Lolo’s lyrics smack of a modern day female secret agent. It conjures up a Lolo Bond series.
I guess that’s what makes this song so fun to listen to is that it has a cross of new, old, and unexpected. Lolo’s approach to this genre is a very personal take from outsider’s point of view. She has clearly maintained her artistic freedom here and it sounds nothing like the “blue eyed soul” heard on her past albums. She is refreshing to listen to. Musicians from all over Tennessee should take notice. After all, Lolo originates from a small Tennessee town where the norm is to come from a family of musicians that are country and they break out as “Alt-Country-Indie” musician aka “Americana.” Her talent is no longer wasted in Jackson.
Weapon For Saturday is officially available in the iTunes store in the US and the UK. You can purchase it here http://smarturl.it/loloweapon. Now go get your copy of the Saturday anthem!!
Lolo will be appearing Jimmy Kimmel on October 10, 2013
