There is no doubt that Bill Cosby was a megastar when he stepped onto the small screen with his sitcom The Cosby Show in 1984, but who knew that that series would become one of the most iconic shows of all time. The series ran for eight seasons and starred Phylicia Rashad, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Tempestt Bledsoe, Lisa Bonet, and Sabrina Le Beauf alongside Cosby. Now Millcreek Entertainment is bringing the show home with the special two season combo DVD featuring seasons 1 & 2.
In case you were living on an island with no electricity or TV the series follows the Huxtables, a happily married couple raising their children with wit and wisdom in hopes to instill the values of life while still delivering the laughs. The early episodes of this series showcased numerous moments directly out of Cosby’s stand up making for some hilarious moments, but as the show moved forward it turned into something so much more than just another comedy series. At a time where stereotypes were stronger than ever, this series stood out bringing a strong positive black family to television that ditched the aspect of race and made it about values. Cosby was at the top of his game in this show from day one with his quick wit and iconic sweaters to make for one of the best leading men on television. The rest of the cast all brought their own something special to the show with great chemistry and a real feel of family dynamic. There were so many great episodes, but this collection features some of the top ones including “Theo’s Holiday” where Theo learned the ways of the real world with hilarious results and so many more, but one of the best exchanges in the series came in the first episode “Theo’s Economic Lesson” where Cosby and Warner have a discussion/learning experience using Monopoly money that is so quick witted and fun that you knew from that moment this show was something special.
There are so many great moments here that you could go on all day and never come close to naming them all, but thanks to this collection that features 4 discs and all 49 episodes of the first two seasons you can relive the fun for yourself. This is an iconic show that even today still manages to deliver and feel relevant so be sure to grab your copy as well as some of the other seasons over at www.millcreekent.com
