When someone mentions Miley Cyrus, two words come to mind: twerking and disgusting. When I've promoted her talent and songs off her new album, 'Bangerz,' the consistent reaction I've observed is that she's utterly repulsive. I mean, because of her, "twerk" was validated as an English word in the dictionary. Her controversial performance at last years VMA's made her the most talked about celebrity of 2013 and the ultimate recipe for imitations and pop culture references across the world.
What most people don't understand about the ''disgusting” pop superstar is that she is extremely talented. And not just behind great producers on her tracks. The blonde bombshell can sing extremely well during a live show. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend her 'Bangerz” world tour in Denver and Cyrus delivered an unbelievable 90 minute performance. Not only does she sing live the entire time, she engages with the crowd and belts out some great renditions of classic songs like 'Jolene' and 'Hey Ya.'
During the hour and a half set-list, Cyrus takes her fans on a wild ride filled with mind-blowing backdrops, crazy costumes, emotional ballads and yes, twerking. She has to twerk to live up to what made her ridiculously famous in the first place, but don't think you're going to a concert to see her only do that. Cyrus has created an image and reputation solely to sell records and make people talk about her. While some may argue that it is a crummy way to gain attention, she must be doing something right to sell out concerts and have her latest album, 'Bangerz' maintain a steady position on the overall Itunes chart. Whether you think Miley needs to go away or quit portraying someone she's not, the girls got chops and mega talent to fall back on.
