Michelle Obama’s favorite designer: Jason Wu’s best looks from Fall 2013 New York Ready-to-Wear Show.

If you weren’t familiar with Jason Wu’s designs before he captured the spotlight (again), by Michelle Obama choosing him for the second time in the inaugural gown competition, then you should be.

Let’s call it tailored yet not tame. Wu’s elegant layers of lace and fur over sensuous, tailored materials gives a Park Avenue flair to simple, elegant shapes. Boardroom sexy. Menswear cuts mixed with transparent, floating puffs of sheer fabrics and inventive details. Confident designs for ladies who know who they are and want the world to know too.

Wu presented a predominantly black and white palette, with a few designs of rich cognac mixed with contrasting black. Of course he added his now signature Michelle Obama red pieces to give the collection a vibrant pop.

Enjoy the slide show of the top looks.
