The 16th annual Miami Fashion Week took place during May 15-18, 2014 a long lineup of professional runway shows, pop-up shops, special appearances and master classes. Miami Beach Convention Center hosted the fashion affair that ended with a wrap up party at the Surfcomber in Miami Beach, FL. A total of thirty-nine womens, mens and swimwear designers participated in the showcase and over 600 media outlets covered them.

A local online industry resource, Miami Fashion Network was in attendance and had the opportunity to interview the talented Viviana Gabeiras backstage after the Eastern Airlines Miami Style Showcase on Thursday the 18th. The designer, originally from Venezuela, developed her first line, Sweat Pea and after a great response, she developed Petit Pois. Since, her collections have received attention from celebrities like Mya, Shakira, Viviana Gibelli and super model Heidi Lindgren. “I am a person who likes to dress everyone, I am woman for women.” Viviana’s style is ever changing conditional to the present fashion trends. According to the designer, “It all depends on how you feel and how you’re changing and just going with your style and your age.”

Other prominent designers like: Julian Chang, Lisu Vega, Kayce Armstrong and Samy Gicherman featured their unique designs. A gifted designer and owner of the completely organic accessory line, Lisu Vega was named winner of the Eastern Airlines apparel contest. Jose Roberto Coppola, a famous Venezuelan fashion editor named her, “One of the 12 Most Important Emerging Designers.” MFN also appeared front row at the eveningwear showcase on Saturday the 17th that included designs from: Fadila Kihel, Magnolia, Teresa Rosati and Olga Bolanos. Each brand represented a different country and culture, which was portrayed throughout their individual assemblages.

The winning fashion collage of talent, vendors and celebrities made this years show a memorable one, its no wonder MFW has been included in the top five fashion weeks in the world. Sexy models, culture and the gorgeous garb had everyone excited for next season.
