Brr... the weather is dipping into the teens -- 16 degrees as of this morning. So, honestly I can't help it if my body is going into full bear mode -- as I call it.
My latest mid-winter indulgence is to come home after a long, hard day at work and slip into the bathtub. I grab my bath salts, my audiobook, and a candle and nothing can disturb my relaxation sesh.
Thankfully, I recently came across a company as passionate about bath-time as I am -- Metropolis Soap Company.
They sent me a goodie pack the other week and wow, talk about impressive! I literally could smell the soaps through the packaging when it arrived on my desk -- do you know how incredible that is!! Well, I immediately knew I was on to something good.
Thanks to Metropolis and their handcrafted and 100% vegan soaps, scrubs, bath salts, moisturizers, etc. my tub time will never be the same.
The first thing I tried was their bar soap. And trust me this is not you average, plain- Jane bar soap -- the scents are out of this world and come in:
- Agave Nectar & Green Tea
- Aloe, Chamomile, & Lavender
- Citrus & Poppy Seed
- Grapefruit & Spearmint
- and more!
Honestly, I feel like every hippie out there is trying to craft their eco-line of soap... but they are nothing like Metropolis. This company is so inventive with their scents that you truly notice the difference as you bathe.
Next I tried their herbal spa salts. This was the biggest surprise of my goodie bag. The Rose, Jasmine, & Ylang Ylang version was incredible. You just put 1/4 cup into your bath water and soak. The scent is superb -- you smell like a rose, because you literally have rose petals floating in your tub with you! And there are oh so many other benefits too!
Benefits of Bath Salts:
- relieve sore achy muscles
- softens skin
- soothes stress
- stimulate circulation
- reduce inflammation
- removes oils an excess toxins from the skin
I feel like I am gushing a little too much, but I really was completely shocked, surprised, and impressed by this company! To be honest, I love eco and vegan products, but I understand that they may not be as effective as the chemical-laden versions found else where -- but not in the case of Metropolis.
Ok, allow me this one last chance to gush about their products -- and then I will cease, I swear!
Body Scrub!
Ok -- I have a serious beef with body scrubs. Any monkey can make them! If you have any DIY skills -- it is a breeze. Sugar + some sort of oil for softness or sugar + some sort of cleanser to get squeaky clean. With that said, I never buy scrubs. And I loathe companies that make sugar scrubs and claim that they will rock my world.
now, that I got that rant out of the way...
Metropolis blows these other companies out of the water! pow! To be honest, I don't actually know what makes up their scrubs, but it is some combination salt + sugar + exfoliating beads that looks like tapioca (which is super gentle).
I tried the Honeysuckle & Violet Scrub...
Full of antioxidants, this scrub utilizes the power of organic honeysuckle and organic violet leaf to promote a healthier complexion. The essential oil blend of bergamot and balsam of Peru lends a citrus-vanilla scent.
this is way advanced scrub! They say its body scrub, but I use it all over my face too! It's super gentle and has been super helpful in my recent awkward bout of acne.
Alright, I need to end this post, otherwise my love for Metropolis Soap goes from a blog post to a short story! ha! But trust me when I say, this company is amazing -- their purpose, their messaging, their ideals, their products -- are all on point!
