Saying “Thank You” to our military to me is not enough. The men and women who served have done so much for us and lost so much that anytime I have the chance to be involved in something for the military I jump at it. Metallica-Fest was such an event. Featuring awesome bands such as The Longing, Suicide Jones, Firing All Cylinders, Lordz of Ruin and Masters of Puppets, who came out to support not only music but our Military. The show had vendors that included ColdCock Whiskey, ROCKwell UnScene MUSIC Magazine & Radio Show, and Xombie Woof who came out to support this event with the proceeds going to the USO.
The Longing took the stage first to kick off the show. This unique rock band blends the haunting sound of the piano (keys) into a hard rock band. The band’s lyrics tell a story being sung by the angelic female voice of Laura Bradly. Kicking off any event is not easy but this band pulled it off and they enchanted the crowd.
Suicide Jones combines sounds across the musical plane. Imagine Rock, Punk, Metal, Blues and Funk all in one band. It happened and the result is Suicide Jones. When they took the stage the fans jumped to their feet and headed to the front. If you like your music raw and dangerous this is the band to see. Suicide Jones will give you a bang for your buck and when they hit a stage near you get to the show.
Firing All Cylinders is Metal. Playing what they want when they take the stage they are pure metal emotion. Mixing their passion with a burning talent is what makes the band what they are on stage - and that is explosive.
Lordz of Ruin had one mission when they started and that was: “to bring back honest, powerful & heavy hard hitting rock & roll.” Mission accomplished. This band has a raw, powerful edge. They connect not only with each other but with the crowd. Their show falls under an experience not a show and that's why I put them on my must see and see again list. They brought it and they brought it hard.
Masters of Puppets, the headliners to Metallica Fest closed the show What better way to close the show than having every ass out of a chair and on floor? Powerful, in your face, ball-kicking, eargasmic - those are just a few ways to describe this set. Playing only Metallica songs and covering them the best I have seen yet this band is a true tribute to the great Metallica. Get out and see this band if you have a craving for Metallica.
Hosting this music event in honor of the Military was Metal Sanaz. She has been in all 4 corners of the world in search of music of all kinds for all occasions. She has seen and heard it all and she gave Masters of Puppets and all the bands that played this event the stamp of approval. But this show was more than about the music - it was about those who give and gave all and the families they leave behind. It was to honor those who fight for us, our rights, our freedoms, and our way of life. It was to honor the Military and to give back to them. So thank you to all those who found their way to the show. The ticket price was only $10 bucks to hear live music (unless you were military then you were free) so to those who supported this event and made this event possible thank you.
