Metal with a Slice of Pizza! (Photos)

Long Beach was the place to be Sat. March 9th to get your music on, hosting 75 bands at Rock Party 2 at the Marina, and 7 more great bands just down PCH at Dipiazzas. With a killer line-up that included: Ex Presidents, KaVaN, Sexocide, Ascendancy, Sorizon, Eken is Dead, Lazarus Casket, and Wizard Sleeve. This venue offered great food at awesome prices, an awesome staff, and it is an all ages venue. If you want a night of music this is your place. If you missed this show this is what you missed.

KaVaN is a band that has become a powerhouse in the SoCal Hard Rock scene. If you're an Iron Maiden fan you will love KaVan. This Irish Import is a must see because they are the full package; the look, the sound, and most important they put on one hell of a show. They play to the crowd engaging the audience as well as each other on stage. I have seen them countless times and have never seen a bad performance.

Sexocide is a Progressive Rock/Alternative Rock band out of the Mojave Dessert. One thing that seperates them from most bands is the fact that they have a female bass player. Another thing about this band is that they are fun...a party on stage that spills into the crowd. They have a great sound and I would recomend checking them out. I have seen them 2 times now and will see them again.

Ascendancy is a straight up Heavy metal band, influenced by Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, Overkill, Iced Earth and many more. You can hear the sound combintaion of this bands influences in their music. This band is a great band to see live. They bring fans to the floor and get the pit going.

Sorizon is in your face Heavy Metal. This was the first time I saw this band and it won’t be the last. They blew me away and filled the floor with a great mosh pit. “SORIZON's goal is to create metal that connects to the audience to reveal a story, even before the lyrics are known and reveal the true tale.” And they do just that. I put this band on my list of top 10 Metal bands to see and see again.

Eken is Dead is in one word: Amazing. I call them Sexy Metal. Lead vocalist Chris N. knows how to work the crowd like a blonde on a first date. I cannot say anything bad about this band. I love the show they put on, their sound, and the only left I can see is go see them!

Lazarus Casket is Metal to the core. I would describe them as Death Metal/Experimental/Metal. This band is hard, hard, hard and if that is your taste this is your band. This band has elements of Testament and other great Thrash/Metal bands in their sound. A new addition to this band is lead vocalist Jason Tyler. I have to say good choice; he brings a hard, death metal delivery and style that fits the band. If your a Metal fan this is a band worthy of your time and hard earned money.

Wizzard Sleeve is a Rock/Metal band coming at you out of Long Beach. This band put the ass shaking in metal. If you want a fun Metal band this is your band. Closing the night is never easy but this band did it with grace and great music. This was my first time seeing this band and I enjoyed their set, ending a great day of music in Long Beach.

Supporting Local Music is always good. This night was espescially awesome because I got to share it with my daughter who is 13. All ages shows help the scene grow and help the bands create a larger fan base. Thank you to all all ages venues!

As always, "Occupy Your Local Venues & Support Your Local Bands!".
