From a wine lover’s perspective, Vinoteque on Melrose is the crown jewel of Hollywood and one of the wine bars/restaurants leading the Los Angeles wine renaissance.
Originally in Culver City, Vinoteque relocated to the Melrose strip in 2009 and is a wine paradise. Vinoteque is not only passionately dedicated to wine, but offers a unique and unrivaled wine tasting experience.
In fact, Vinoteque hosts so many different types of events each one is worthy of it’s own review. The weekly schedule:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday: Sip n Swirls. Themed wine tastings. 35 people maximum. Reservations required.
- Wednesday: Trivia night. Win the game and take home a bottle of wine as the prize.
- Thursday & Sunday: Vino Cinema. Watch a movie “under the stars” on Vinoteque’s back patio while you eat. Originally on Sunday, Vino Cinema has become so popular it recently expanded to Thursdays. Screenings start at sundown.
- Friday & Saturday: No special events.

Don’t be fooled by the wine list on Vinoteque’s website. It does not reflect the number and quality of wine available, and does not detail the options that make Vinoteque special.
Wine Flights: Vinoteque has Old World & New World themed wine flights. Flights are generous pours of three wines. If the existing flights are not to your liking, they will work with you to design a flight that is (e.g. all California Cabernets, all white, all South America, etc.).
Wine by the Glass: Vinoteque will open any bottle on their extensive list as long as you commit to ordering two glasses. Each glass is 1/3 of the total price of the bottle.
Wine Knowledge: Sommelier Ryan Hess is not only onsite, he's at your table making great suggestions to enhance your overall tasting experience. Do not be afraid to ask questions! He has the answers.
