They offer a range of Mediterranean favorites including vegetarian options and options for the health conscious. Mediterranean food consists of a lot more than just gyros and olives and, with it’s large menu, Sahara is the perfect restaurant for exploring all that Mediterranean cuisine has to offer.
Sahara’s menu offers a wide variety of items from casual fare like salads and sandwiches (served from 11am to 5pm) to more elegant options like the roasted Bronzoni, a white fish cooked in a brick oven in a lemon garlic sauce. They offer classics like Greek salads, slow braised lamb shanks and shish kebabs (cubes of tender lamb broiled to perfection) as well as unique dishes like the stuffed eggplant, feta chicken, and seafood options like their Sahara shrimp, served in a spicy tomato sauce. The combination platters are a good option for diners who want to try a little taste of everything. The Sahara mixed grill combination platter (serves 4) comes with an adana kebab (lamb flavored with bell peppers and paprika), chicken kebab, chicken adana kebab, and shish kebab as well as a side of rice and burgol, which is cracked wheat.
Many of Sahara’s menu items are geared towards the health conscious. Most entrées are grilled, roasted or broiled and served with vegetables and healthy sides. There are also plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. Their entrees include roasted eggplant, zucchini cakes, and falafels, which are a combination of deep fried chickpeas and other vegetables. They also have a number of vegetarian appetizers, salads and sandwiches, like their baba ghanoush (eggplant) sandwich and hummus sandwich.
Sahara also offers an extensive dessert menu, with tons of classic Mediterranean desserts, like Baklava and Keskul, which is vanilla flavored custard served with pistachios. They also serve American favorites like cheesecake, and chocolate lava cake. Although, Sahara is a BYOB, they have plenty of coffee and tea beverages on their menu as well.
