The MBTA is jumping into the technological present with their new mTicket app. This application can be downloaded on iPhones, Androids, tablets, etc. The more these technologies become available, the more it becomes a sort of necessity for companies to keep up with the Joneses.
Forget standing in long lines at North Station and then running for your train. Forget keeping that small little monthly pass ticket in your pocket for a month consistently checking to make sure you didn't lose it and lose hundreds of dollars.
Put all of this in the past by downloading this app and always having your ticket on hand. Users must have a credit card available to them in order to purchase tickets. Simply go to "Buy Tickets" pick your starting point and then your destination. Plug in your credit card information and you are ready to ride!
The ticket purchased will then be under the "My Ticket" section within the app. Once you board the train it's time to activate your ticket. Activating a ticket will produce a flashing barcode and time stamp to let conductors know this is an active ticket. Once the time stamp is up you can no longer use the ticket so make sure you do not activate the ticket to early!
Don't forget to charge your phone before boarding. If your phone happens to lose power before showing your ticket to the conductor you will have to purchase a ticket on board. The activated bar code is the only way a conductor can confirm that you have actualy purchased a ticket to board the train.
Also, if you purchase a monthly pass on this app, a discount is applied. For a Zone 3 Monthly pass, a discount of $10 is applied to the total.
Making commuters' lives easier, the MBTA mTicket app!
