Maybelline's 'The Falsies' - Truly fabulous

Although the name of Maybelline's latest mascara, "The Falsies," is cringe-worthy (hel-lo, we women want to believe we're naturally beautiful and that our beauty's not fake!), the product itself is truly a winner.

Even among the creme de la creme of mascaras (for example, Dior's "Diorshow" and "Blackout"), "The Falsies" outperforms.  For a drugstore product, the quality is superb, and you can't argue with the price--it's less than half the cost of one full-size Dior mascara, for instance.  "The Falsies" doesn't dry out lashes like many other mascaras do, even if you apply a couple of coats.  It also lives up to its promise of giving your lashes more volume, making them look full and lush.

For those who only use mascara on their top lashes, many have found that even the tiniest bit of mascara on the bottom lashes makes the eye area look smudgy and smeary (and not in a sexy smoky eye sort of way) later in the day.  For day or night, you can get away with going for a glamorous but tame pinup look: shimmery neutral shadow on your eyelids, an almost-cat eye with matte black eyeliner, and then mascara to make the look go from very pretty to va-va-voom.  "The Falsies" in Very Black is a perfect choice for this look, plumping up your lash line without making it look over the top or too showy for daytime wear.  While false lashes often look fake (and can be made of human hair--ewww!), "The Falsies" does not, as it gives your natural lashes the enhancement you're looking for without a whole lot of fuss.

I apply my "Falsies" after I've done the rest of my eye makeup; that way I don't have to work around a lush set of lashes to get my eyeshadow and liner exactly where I want it!  To start, I put one coat on each lash just as the product's official website suggests, bringing the curved side of the brush from bottom to ends of my lashes, and then, before the product dries, applying another coat in the same fashion.  I don't exceed more than two coats, as I've found that the mascara starts getting a little clumpy at that point, but luckily you don't need more than two coats of it to achieve a noticeably fuller set of lashes.  My lashes are long but rather sparse, and two coats of "The Falsies" fills in the gaps quite nicely.

Maybelline's "The Falsies" is a true lifesaver when you want to enhance your eyes' natural beauty or glam up your look for a fun night out.
