Hermie is little caterpillar with some friends and it is he who speaks in each page. The sentiment he gives to God with thanking and blessing him with “two big blue eyes to see with” was probably one of the favorite lines there is. As a children’s book it is a very quick and easy read, however it punches to the main idea of thanking God for who we are no matter what we look like or what things may seem like.
Illustrations were done by Frank Endersby in wispy, colorful strokes on the cover and on each page. Even with colorful images and wonderful prayers from worm to God, there still could have been more that Hermie does and says. It is a quick little book and perfect for toddlers and parents. The main idea is that prayer and giving things are paramount in the Christian life.
