No Limit mogul Master P, aka Percy Miller, presents The Gift as his fourteenth LP. There are some pleasant moments on this album, whether they are coming from the party jams or the motivational ballads. The messages he sends are revisitations, and even though they are useful, they represent already treaded terrain in rap. One saving grace on the album has to be Master P's improved lyrical skills. He seems to have a wider range of rhyming ability on this album compared to that from earlier albums. For best results, pay more attention to the words than the beats. Plenty of hot guest emcees spruce up the album, especially a grown Romeo, who projects exuberant spunk similar to the likes of a Big Sean or a Cory Gunz type. Excitable and energetic, The Gift has the right stuff for dedicated No Limit fans but certainly isn't Master P's best.
