If the backdrop and finesse at the newly opened Fig & Olive Restaurant in West Hollywood is any indicator of the style and grace of Marriott’s new Waikiki EDITION in Honolulu, then I wanna be there, and be there right now!
I’ve been to many fine restaurants around the world, so sampling some delectable offerings on the Fig & Olive’s sun-kissed patio, certainly put me in the mood to enjoy foodie splendor. Good food always sets the tone, as I learned about this groovy property.
Imagine a restaurant by world-renowned chef, Morimoto, best-known as the third Iron Chef Japanese on the TV cooking show Iron Chef, and an Iron Chef on its spinoff, Iron Chef America, and you can imagine the caliber of food that will be featured at this hotel.
Besides the cuisine, the hotel couples style and luxury with innovation, and also features many modern amenities, including the exclusive Crazybox nightclub; a unique Sunrise Pool with lushly landscaped gardens by Deborah Nevins; an exclusive Private Sunset Beach with bar; an intimate Lobby Bar hidden behind a secret passage; a bar at Sunrise Pool; and an outdoor movie theater reminiscent of drive-in theaters - but without the cars. Or how about beds with Frette linens? Let’s hit the snooze bar one more time!
I’ve been to Hawaii a few times, but my experience has always had that kitschy luau feel, which I don’t mind. But let’s face it-not everyone wants that sort of thing, and from what I can tell, this place promises to deliver-big time.
Maybe I’ll get to go to Hawaii again at some point in time, and if I have the opportunity, I’ll make this place a destination I’d like to enjoy.
