Man On A Ledge will push you to the edge

Sometimes the trailer for a movie just never really tells you much about it. That can work to the advantage as well as the disadvantage to the finished product. Most viewers have a predetermined view of what they are going to experience in a film and when it takes a different turn, good or bad, sometimes throw’s them off. Man On A Ledge is one such film where you think you know what it’s about, but could there be more to it?

Man on A Ledge follows a desperate man trying to prove his innocence after escaping prison. With the help of his brother they hatch a plan to prove that he is not only innocent, but to reveal the conspiracy and those involved. This movie appears pretty straight forward on the surface and in some ways is, but manages to throw in a few curveballs to make it a bit more. Everyone here gives good performances and seems to have decent chemistry. The filmmakers managed to take a thriller and throw in a heist film successfully without it feeling forced. Everything here works and expresses more depth than you would have thought. The visual aspect is what makes most of the film work. Over half of the film takes place on the ledge itself and works. It never feels fake or silly; with close attention to detail making sure it never fails to make sense. There are some aspects here that seemed stretched out for no reason other than film time, but still manage to work. All though the end of the film works really well, there are a couple of moments that loose its believability, but not so much that it hurts the film.

This film sports an interesting story and a great cast that manages to pull together an entertaining film. Some aspects felt like old school filmmaking without all the CGI and forced action and in its place use clever storytelling, tension, and some clever twists and turns to create a well-crafted thriller.
