Mammut’s Biwak Light Jacket for women is a jacket that is ideal as either a mid-layer or an outer layer as an alternative to a soft shell. It’s perfect for ice climbing and any active and intensive adventures in the mountains. You’ll be comfortably insulated and without limited movement in the Biwak Light Jacket.
The Biwak Light Jacket is extremely breathable, lightweight, and the Polartec® Alpha® insulation is very fast drying. The outer material is Pertex® Quantum® which is water-resistant and blocks wind, and the Powerstretch inserts on the side and back allows for elasticity and absolute freedom of movement. High-reach sleeves have thumb loops that are designed to accommodate climbing movements. There are two concealed pockets at the sides, and a chest pocket with zip.
The Biwak jacket was put to the test for a few solid days of ice and mixed climbing. Temperatures in the areas climbed were warmer than usual, and this particular jacket was perfect during climbing and while belaying. It stretched beautifully while swinging the ice axes into the ice or reaching to set an axe into the rock. There were absolutely no problems with restriction during any of the actions involved while climbing.
On one particular mixed route, the ice was melting from up top and dripping water pretty rapidly. The water resistance from the Pertex Quantum material was pretty decent considering the amount of water that was falling. Even with a slight bit of dampness after finishing the climb, the jacket dried rather quickly. It kept me warm in colder conditions, and the breathability was fantastic when the weather warmed up.
The Mammut Biwak Light Jacket is a must-have for your winter outdoor sports whether you’re ice climbing, backcountry skiing or ski touring. Its functionality is versatile, reliable, and the jacket is durable. Other words that come to mind for the Biwak include high quality, comfort, lightweight, and resilience. These are vital aspects for anyone involved in winter outdoor adventures. It may be soft and light, but it’ll withstand your intensity for winter ventures and keep you warm when you need it.
