Their current play Tony Award nominated "Other Desert Cities" drops a bomb for Florida dramatic straight plays. Sure there is comedy, but this hot play that was just on Broadway a few seasons ago, has steamy hot explosive dialogue and deals with ethics of right and wrong. Take note parents performances contain strong language for those who may want to expose teens to this explosive play. "Other Desert Cities has more hidden secrets than, where is Jimmy Hoffa! The bombs are more like mines, as each suspenseful moment is discovered at this dysfunctional family reunion. A dysfunctional family you must not miss!" Theatre Chat.

Just when you think you might know where Pulitzer Prize nominee Jon Robin Baitz is going to take this current day story, a new spin is thrown in the mix. Imagine, your daughter returns home for the holidays, announcing she is about to publish a controversial memoir of your family. Would you let the dirt be spilled, or would you be happy for her success? You will need to see this Broadway Global favorite to find out. "Other Desert Cities" plays now through March 2, 2014 at the multi Carbonell Award winning Maltz Jupiter Theatre. "Other Desert Cities" received five nominations for the 2012 Tony Awards, and the play was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This Dramatic play has dropped a bomb for Florida theatre lovers!

"The drama follows a young novelist who returns home to Palm Springs for the holidays and announces that she is about to publish a book dredging up a deep family tragedy. The tell-all confessional novel threatens to put her prominent all-American family back in the tabloids. But will the truth be exposed? This explosive drama sheds light on a dysfunctional family reunion everyone can relate to." Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

“At its core, this is a story about a troubled family struggling to reconcile their past,” said Peter Flynn, the show’s director. “There is anger and regret, but there is also a great love for one another – which is what makes the stakes so high. The heart of the play lives in something the son says: ‘On your last day on this planet…all what will have mattered is how you loved."

Florida Theatre Chat 8,500 fans will love that Maltz Jupiter Theatre's production of "Other Desert Cities" comes over a year later than Actors' Playhouse production of "Other Desert Cities". Every element is just as fresh and exciting. The sets both very different, Actors' Playhouse set was cold and sleek, while Maltz Jupiter's is warm and inviting. The direction and acting in both productions, brilliant! South Florida is is filling theatre seats for award winning theatre from Jupiter to Miami and beyond. We are the fun in the sun arts destination. I'm honored to be a part of the Silver Palm Award committee, but I'm happy to say that I'm not a Carbonell Award voter, because if I had to choose between these two productions, the decision would be more than difficult. If you have seen the play before, as I have many times, you will find new dialogue or elements never seen, each time you see a different performer. You may even find it fun to compare. Florida get in your cars now and drive to one of the finest regional theatres we have in our Nation. It may be called "Other Desert Cities", but you are less than a mile to one of Florida's most beautiful beaches and you will leave the theatre fulfilled.

Flynn’s direction is exquisite, down to every element of blocking, pacing and he hits every beat with his talented "Other Desert Cities" cast. Flynn's directorial credits won't surprise you, as they include directing at regional theatres such as the Guthrie Theater and Chicago Shakespeare Theater, as well as staging a number of star-studded concerts on Broadway, including On the Twentieth Century, starring Douglas Sills, Marin Mazzie and Joanne Worley and Chess at the New Amsterdam Theater, starring Josh Groban. "But, don't Look at Flynn's credits to long if you want to secure tickets to Other Desert Cities, or you will miss one of the best plays Florida has to offer this season." Broadway Global.

“We are so excited to welcome Peter Flynn back to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre to direct our new drama, Other Desert Cities,” said Andrew Kato, the Theatre’s producing artistic director. “Our audiences are still talking about our production of Man of LaMancha, for which he earned Carbonell Awards for both Best Director and Best Musical. He has an innate talent for bringing out the truth of a story and keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.”

Other Desert Cities stars include some of South Florida top actors including Cliff Burgess (a recent Carbonell Award nominee) as the brother Trip. Cliff plays the lighthearted character with ease and is always a joy to watch. Carbonell winner Angie Radosh gives another award winning performance as the alcoholic sister Silda. You will all still remember Angie's performance seen on the Theatre’s stage as Fraulein Schneider in the critically-acclaimed production of Cabaret. Andrea Conte has the most meaty role, with ups and downs Andrea takes this role on a emotional roller coaster ride, playing the daughter Brooke. You have seen Andrea recently onstage in South Florida and in episodes of the television shows The Glades, Burn Notice, America’s Most Wanted and many more. One can't imagine how Andre Conte exsudes this energy every performance. Friends and family please take Andrea out for a few drinks after the show, assuming she drinks.. brilliant performance!

Another strong character is played by Susan Cella, she portrays the role of the matriarch Polly with grace. I love her look for this role just elegant, but it's her acting that will capture the hearts of every mother... Susan's Broadway credits include The Graduate, Crazy He Calls Me, Me and My Girl and Evita). Richard Kline portrays Lyman. Kline gives a heartfelt realistic look at a father torn with a secret... Richard is known for his role as Larry Dallas on the sitcom Three's Company, in addition to regional and Broadway credits that include the Wizard in the first national tour of Wicked.

It's important to point out that ticket sales don't cover the cost of producing art for the stage. Maltz Jupiter Theatre has cleverly learned how to market individual sponsors, with their names up in lights before the show starts. Theatre cannot survive without these generous sponsors sharing live art for our society. Other Desert Cities is sponsored by John Osher and Jodie and Dan Hunt and the Roy A. Hunt Foundation. The Theatre’s 62 new club level seats are available for single tickets and subscription upgrades for Other Desert Cities. Group rates are available, and the Theatre’s new upstairs club level lounge, The Green Room, is available for private events and functions.
