This week, I made my own face wash/scrub very easily from Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil (which is certified organic), baking soda and organic essential oil from Mountain Rose Herbs. (If you order by clicking on any of my links and have never ordered from Tropical Traditions in the past, you will receive a free book on Virgin Coconut Oil, and I will receive a discount coupon for referring you.) I used roughly equal parts of gently melted coconut oil & baking soda and mixed in about ten drops of tea tree oil. I store it in a mason jar. I’ve used it several times and it left my skin feeling soft, smooth and lightly scented with coconut. I’ve been impressed by how long the moisturizing effect lasts.
The first step to making your own face wash/scrub is to determine what skin type you have. After that, you can decide what essential oil or blend would be best for you. There is a wonderful list of which essential oils are therapeutic, depending on skin type, here.
It is easy to know that Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is high quality. (Again, if you order by clicking on any of my links and have never ordered from Tropical Traditions in the past, you will receive a free book on Virgin Coconut Oil, and I will receive a discount coupon for referring you.) The oil, when solidified is snow-white; and when melted it is clear. It smells and tastes like fresh coconut, evidence of minimal processing.
I only use essential oils from Mountain Rose Herbs – I love the quality of their products and their customer service is phenomenal. Shipping is fast and the items are well-packed.
