Cummins Station has become the home of some pretty fantastic food lately. With the new additions of M Market and M Restaurant and Bar, you are sure to hear chatter about them circulating. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the well-known owners, Jan and Bernie Strawn, who also are the brains behind Macke’s in Green Hills, and Mack & Kate’s in Franklin. Two other restaurant’s sure to wow you.
To not confuse those who don’t know, both M Market and M Restaurant and Bar can be found a few doors down from one another. When I asked who really designed the concept of the two, Owner Jan said it was a mixture of people. Not only the owners, but also the chefs and cooks. By all of these key players working together and adding their own spices and special touches, these food havens were created.
Stacey Rickard is the head chef for the Market. Most foodies in the Nashville area already know him from the Corner Market days, but those who don’t are sure to be lured in by his bold flavor profiles that will have your taste buds begging for more. Whether it the soup of the day, the bacon wrapped grilled cheese, or even the Tennessee Chipped Beef sandwich, whatever you’re choosing, you’re sure to be on cloud nine after its devoured. Hot sandwiches not really your thing? Try a cold one from the grab and go cooler or some fresh fruit. Whatever you’re choosing, it is sure to be two things; fresh, and prepared with love. With employees and cooks that are there to please you can’t go wrong with any choice.
The Market has already done such a great job at providing such a vast array of offerings to patrons of all kinds that it’s hard to think that they could make the Market even better. Not only do they serve breakfast and lunch but they are also acting as a butcher shop where you can pick up some custom cuts from Circle T Farms in Columbia, TN. Come grilling season there will be lots of local steaks to grab to throw on the grill, and as time progresses we should see even more food that busy people can grab to take home for dinner. What an amazing concept. Offering busy Nashvillian’s in the downtown area the chance to eat a dinner at home made of local and fresh ingredients. It just doesn’t get much better than that!
M Market is doing so many things that are influencing the food movement that Nashville is a part of right now. By offering fresh meals made daily with ingredients from all of our favorites like; Willow Farms, Bobby Johns Bread, Noble Farms Broadbent Farms, Buffalo Valley Farms, and Circle T Farms, they are really supporting local farmers and feeding locavores as fast as they come.
So the next time you’re in the area stop in. If you’re in a hurry grab something and go, but if you have time stay awhile. Do some light shopping of things like honey, sauces, and other small gift items that are displayed as you walk in. Then sit and enjoy your delicious meal as you get lost in tranquility while staring out the window wondering if you really do need dessert.
