Luigi Tacchino, Gavi, DOCG, 2011

Luigi Tacchino, Gavi, DOCG, 2011 from Monferrato in Italy’s Piedmont region is a perfect wine for warm evening. Gavi wine is made from the Cortese grape. Pale yellow in color with aromas of lemon peel, that transition to banana, other tropical fruits and slate. On the palate bright citrus hits up front followed by tart Granny Smith apple, it is clean and crisp with a short finish rounded out with minerals. This wine would go great with some sautéed hog snapper done with a citrus sauce. The acidity could also cut through pasta dishes with a light cream sauce with vegetables. This wine is also great to serve as an aperitif or just something nice to sip to unwind after a long day playing in the sun.
