It’s not uncommon for actors and actresses to try their hands at making it in the music world. Many have tried and failed. John Travolta and William Shatner come immediately to mind. However, there are those that are just gifted with both acting and singing talent. The young Lucy Hale is one of these rare ones. She plays Aria Montgomery on the ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars. Additionally, she loves to sing country music.
Now, our pretty little liar has released her country debut album, Road Between. Keep in mind that Hale points to Britney Spears as a key artistic influence. As you might expect, Hale’s style of country music leans closer to pop music then, say, Tammy Wynette. Nevertheless, she was also influenced by Shania Twain and Faith Hill (both sorta country) and Dixie Chicks (excommunicated country).
Her album is out on Hollywood Records, and the single “You Sound Good to Me” has received a lot of mainstream country radio airplay.
Although the most of the album is okay, there is one truly great song on it. One titled "Red Dress" is a duet between Hale and fantastic country singer Joe Nichols. Nichols has one of those inspired-by-The Hag and Jones voices that simply oozes traditional country music. When Hale sings with Nichols, this barely country sounding gal suddenly becomes amazingly country. You may not want to buy the whole album, but it would be a good idea to at least download this one great song.
