Last year Seros Family Restaurant on Walton Blvd. in Rochester Hills, Mich., was transformed from the typical Greek-style family restaurant to an upscale steakhouse called Lucky’s Prime Time. Initially the transformation did not seem to work but now, one year later, they have come into stride.

The popular breakfast menu from the days of Seros is partially back as the restaurant regains the lucrative breakfast business that represented a large part of their volume. Eggs and omelets, pancakes, French toast and waffles are available at the reasonable prices that made Seros a popular morning destination.

The ambiance is much better under the Lucky’s name. The wait staff wears white shirts and ties hovering over the dark wood tables and booths. Lighting has been dimmed to give a quainter feel.

Of course the food is important. Portions are very generous in spite of the low prices. Omelets are huge with a generous addition of each omelet’s ingredients.

The potatoes, other than baked white potatoes and yams, need some work but the beef and other meats make up for it. Cooks are great at cooking to the desired texture and there is a very nice, but natural taste to the beef.

The highest recommendation goes to the prime rib sandwich. You will need a knife and fork to eat it because the meat is too big and juicy to eat otherwise.

Considering the value and flavor of Lucky’s, your examiner has given them four of five stars.
