Lucifer’s Pizza in Los Feliz has delicious pies, no question. Do not eat inside the restaurant: the ambiance is uninviting, as is the staff, and they don’t expect to wait on clientele. Their catch phrase is “Damned Good Pizza” and it is, with an emphasis on the spicy: there’s a chili rating on the wall indicating levels of hotness from zero to blazing. The pizzas are interesting and tasty and they offer out-of-the-ordinary toppings. For instance, “Zucha” (squash) is what it sounds like: pizza with pumpkin (and olives, feta, bell peppers, zucchini and spinach) and is not a ubiquitous pizza topping, and yet it works. Also, the “Hot Chick” (chicken, black pepper, pepperoni, bell pepper, onions, garlic and hot chili sauce) is insanely good. You can order yummy sandwiches and salads here, also. And, as the cashier said, “Actually, the dressing already comes on the side.” So don’t ask. They’re really set up for take-out, so do that, because it’s not fun to deal with the teenage staff.
