Love was in the Air, with Bocelli

A Valentine’s Concert like no other, featuring Andrea Bocelli, took place this past February 14th in Miami FL, at the Bank Atlantic Center. Presented by Gelb Promotions, a fantastic production with outstanding sound system even in this Arena. The concert was attended by an audience of 15,200 Bocelli fans.

A full house enjoyed the romantic melodies and beautiful musical program featuring solos by the great Andrea Bocelli  and duets with opera singer Anamaria Martinez and pop singer Heather Headley, accompanied by Orchestra Miami with Chorus Master Choral of South Florida and conducted by Maestro Eugene Kohn.

The exquisite and varied musical program was created by Andrea Bocelli and maestro Eugene kohn and was dedicated to the theme of “love” carefully balanced and complemented by videos related to the music and words of the songs as well as the opera arias of the program.

The Audience raved through each number, the first part of the program was classical, beginning with sacred music for chorus and Orchestra followed by a series of opera arias sung by Bocelli, among them the famous “Nesun Dorma”  and duets with Soprano Ana Maria Marti brought the audience to their feet, such as duets from Opera La Traviata ,La Boheme and Il Pagliachi.

Ana Maria is an exquisite soprano with a beautiful lyric voice and a flow less technique. She has a wonderful carrier ahead of her, one of the best female operatic voices of the moment.

The second part of the program was dedicated to popular love songs by Bocelli, sung in English, Italian and Spanish, special moment was the song  “De Espania Vengo by Ana Maria and the song “Granada” by Bocelli.

The duets with Pop Broadway singer Heather Hedley had great impact. Headley has an expressive and well projected voice, she knows how to engage the audience with her singing and her charismatic personality.

An emotional moment of the concert was the song ‘Somos Novios” sung by Bocelli and Heather Headley, also the song “The prayer” brought the audience to the floor, but I have to note that the Italian song “Canto de la Terra” was the one that was interpreted with most extreme emotion by Bocelli plus the musical arrangement for Orchestra that excelled to give the audience that night, the beautiful present of the spirit of love that only music and song can bring!

The Orchestra Miami played with clarity and musicality, leaded by skilled conductor Eugene Kohn. The maestro followed the soloist carefully and gave them the freedom to sing from their heart. Bravo for maestro Kohn who also vibrated with emotion happily conducting the musicians with energy and sensitivity.

Definitely Love was in the Air at Bocelli’s Valentines concert in Miami.

As my wife put it, "it was magical". Andrea is the reigning tenor with the passing away of Pavarotti.
