Some days wandering around Publix I take a slow walk through the wine aisle to see what they are offering. I don’t like to see wines at discount prices that I buy for restaurants. Some wine importers sell wines to supermarkets at such low prices it doesn’t make sense for restaurants to sell them. But I really like to look at interesting labels of wines offered at great prices. Does a cheap wine equal cheap uninteresting wine? Sometimes I will buy a bottle to see if the wine is worthy despite the price.

Recently I stumbled across Lost Angel, Cabernet Sauvignon, California, 2012. Intriguing name, nice label, inexpensive, how does it taste? The bottle states, “Naughty wine for naughty times.” It is meant to drink now to be enjoyed after a stressful day. In the glass it is garnet red, a good start. It has aromas of tart red fruit, plum with hints of tobacco and dark chocolate. The palate is filled with tart black berry and minerals with some anise and acidity in the background. It has smooth tannins and is very easy to drink.
So at the end of a stressful day feel free to be a little naughty and enjoy this wine. It won’t change your life, but it won’t break the budget either..
