Carny Sullivan knows a con artist when she sees one; after all she grew up surrounded by them in a traveling carnival. But she has left that life behind her and made a new one for herself in the small town of Serenity, Texas. When Logan Briscoe arrives in town claiming to have plans to help the town, she knows it is a scam.
Carny tries to convince the town not to buy into Briscoe’s plans, but no one believes her. Could she be wrong, will she be able to convince them, or will she be Briscoe’s biggest score? Find out in Shadow in Serenity by Terri Blackstock.
I could not put this book down! I could not wait to see what would happen next and the story drew me in. It was nice to read a Blackstock book that did not revolve around a murder, and this is one of my favorites of her books.
Trust is a major theme in this book. Serenity trusts Logan will deliver what he promised, while Carny does not. Both seem to jump to conclusions without learning all of the facts.
On the whole this is a fascinating book and a good read. I give it five out of five stars.
If there is a book you would like me to review, please write it in the Comments.
