Most wireless mice will come with a warning to avoid use on glass or other reflective surfaces. The Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX has no such warning and will function perfectly well on virtually any surface including glass. The medium size and feature rich software make the Anywhere Mouse a strong contender in my continuing search for the perfect wireless mouse.

In the Box

  • Anywhere Mouse MX
  • Printed Quick-start guide
  • Tips guide
  • 2 AA batteries included
  • Zippered travel pouch
  • 1 tiny leave-in Unifying receiver

The Anywhere Mouse is a comfortable size and works well right out of the box. Windows immediately recognized the mouse and installed the appropriate driver for it. The On/Off button is actually a chiclet type sliding switch on the bottom of the mouse. The removable battery door provides easy access to the battery area and the storage for the receiver when not in use. I like products that come in neat packages so I particularly appreciate the little zippered travel pouch that comes with the Anywhere Mouse. It's well made with a soft interior and the Logitech logo on the front. It provides a safe haven for the mouse when it's bouncing around in your backpack.

Logitech's Advanced 2.4 GHz wireless provides fast data transmissions, and the reliability and performance you would expect from a wired mouse but with the freedom of wireless. It also comes with a 3-year limited hardware warranty.

Logitech has incorporated some special features that make the Anywhere Mouse more than just another nice wireless mouse.
Forward and Back buttons for easy surfing: conveniently positioned on the left side of the mouse where your thumb rests.
The Anywhere Mouse uses Logitech's Darkfield Laser Tracking to provide more precise tracking on any surface including glass which is rare in a wireless mouse.
Select Logitech's Hyper-Fast Scrolling function at the touch of a button or choose the click-to-click mode for more precise navigation of documents, slides, and images.
SetPoint Software is available for download from the Anywhere Mouse Support page and allows for easy customization of the mouse buttons and activation of the Unifying properties for each mouse or keyboard that will be used.
Unifying Software is part of the SetPoint software download. The Anywhere Mouse comes with a Unifying Receiver that will connect up to 6 Unifying compatible devices through the single receiver instead of wasting USB ports on another receiver for each additional mouse or keyboard. The receiver is small and low profile so just plug it in and forget about it.

Software Downloads
Download the SetPoint Software with the Unifying setup from Logitech online. Once installed on your computer the applications will be accessible through the Mouse options in Control Panel. You can use SetPoint to adjust standard mouse setting for your mouse pointer and scrolling options, activate game settings for your mouse, enable application specific button settings, and see the charge level of your mouse's batteries. Access the Unifying software to add and configure up to 6 Unifying compatible Mice, keyboards, or number pads.

SetPoint Software also allows you to assign special tasks to a particular mouse button. These include:

  • Application Switcher
  • Middle Button
  • One-ouch Search
  • Zoom (Magnify)
  • AutoScroll
  • Keystroke Assignment
  • Other.

My favorite task is the Zoom feature which magnifies an image or webpage at the touch of the assigned button. My old USB Microsoft mouse will magnify and has spoiled me to the point that I really miss it when using other mice. God Bless Logitech for adding the zoom function to this new line of mice. Once you've used a zoom capable mouse you won't want to use a standard mouse again.

Being able to check the status of the mouse's battery is also a great feature. SetPoint will alert you with a message on the screen when your batteries are getting low and need to be replaced or recharged. Never suffer from a dead mouse again. The expected battery life of the Anywhere Mouse is up to 7 months.

The Anywhere Mouse MX works with a wide range of computers and operating systems including:

Windows-based computers

  • Windows; XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Internet connection
  • USB port

Mac computer

  • Mac OS X 10.4 or later
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Internet connection
  • USB port

The Anywhere Mouse is a compact and comfortable design with customizable features you can adjust to make it your perfect mouse. It offers the quick response and precision of a wired mouse with the convenience of wireless.
