As pets grow older, veterinary costs become more expensive. One local vet is offering affordable senior services to the Nashville area. Avenue Animal Hospital opened in 2012 in Mt. Juliet, TN and is accredited with the American Animal Hospital Association. Clinic director, Dr. Nicole Harris has been a beloved veterinarian to many in the Mt. Juliet area for several years. Her gentle, softspoken manner helps even semi-feral cats and shy dogs feel comfortable.

Once your pet reaches 6 years old, an annual senior blood panel is recommended to check for early signs of serious illnesses like diabetes, heart and liver problems. Many vets in the Nashville area charge as much as $200 for this test. Avenue Animal Hospital only charges $75 for a senior blood panel on either a cat or dog. This is especially helpful for those who own two or more senior pets. Dogs also require an annual heartworm test which is only $15 at AAH.

Basic veterinary care is also affordable at AAH. A basic exam is only $40 and a fecal exam is only $15. A three-year rabies vaccine is just $25 for a cat. The three-year FVRCP shot for cats is $28. For dogs, a three-year rabies vaccine is only $20. A three-year Parvo/Distemper shot is just $30 and an annual Bordetella shot is $18.

If your pet's senior blood panel and physical exam reveal signs of illness, AAH accepts CareCredit. With this special health-focused credit card you can pay for a large veterinary bill on the date of service and then pay CareCredit back on a monthly basis. $200 is the minimum total bill for using CareCredit. As long as your bill is paid off in full within 6 months, there is no interest charged. This is a great option for dental bills, multiple tests and expensive medications. You can also include your pet's monthly flea and heartworm prevention in your CareCredit total.

Avenue Animal Hospital is located at 1725 North Mount Juliet Road in Mount Juliet, TN 37122. The clinic is just a few blocks south of the railroad tracks. Convenient access is available from Lebanon Rd in Hermitage or from Interstate 40 East. Mt. Juliet is just 23 minutes east of Nashville. The clinic staff are friendly and compassionate. If you have questions about other services available, the staff are glad to answer your questions and provide prices over the phone. AAH is open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and from 8 am to noon on Saturdays. Their phone number is (615) 553-4855.
