'Cheaper To Keep Her' is about when a married couple is ready to call it quits. Raymond Mays (Brian McKnight) is putting his marriage on the back burner to develop his family practice and expecting his wife Morgan Mays (Vivica A. Fox) to shelve her goals of opening her own dance studio. Both wanting different things, Raymond realizes he wants a divorce so Morgan wants alimony. When the judge bangs her gavel, she decides Morgan deserves everything—the house, Raymond’s retirement and more. All he is left with is the thought; it would have been cheaper to keep her. Raymond has two options to prevent him from paying alimony: kill Morgan or get her married off to someone else. As ex-husband and ex-love face off with each other, there are broken hearts but a lesson on love is learned; true love will always prevail.
It is a play of life, love and drama with a backbone of faith. It is packed with witty dialogue and pitch perfect performances of classic hits and new songs from Brian McKnight. It is the just the romantic comedy to get couples old and new to examine their relationships and see what it's worth.
So with a great blend of theater and performance plus a cast of talented and hilarious characters, Je’Caryous Johnson’s 'Cheaper to Keep Her' is enjoyable and will have you laughing all the way home.
