The 10th Annual Rootenanny Music Fest, featuring local music legends Rootstand, was held at the beautiful Rocky Top Preserve in Ellsworth, MI (just a few miles from Traverse City) on July 31 - August 3. This is one of the best intimate, local music festivals that is truly "Out of this World!"

The four day camping music festival had over 30 performances, featuring Rootstand, who played each night. The other artist performing this year were UV Hippo, The Macpodz, Covert, Dragon Wagon, G Snacks, Jahman Brahman, October Babies, Joe Smith, Blake Elliot, Sweet Melissa, Matt Calendine, Mister F, Soul Patch, Thick As Thieves, The Ridge, Ben Daniels Band, Ghost City Searchlight, B-Rant, Hunter Burt, Michael Godman, Kyle Mayer, Elizabeth Landry, Anna Lee's Co, Ethan Keller, Amanda Pilarski, Grant Jacobus and the Traveling Horse Club, Paul's Big Radio, Joel Rydecki Band, Honorable Spirits, Kayla Jo, Roister and Kedree A. Rootstand is an acoustic country blues, bluegrass, Celtic roots, rock and reggae band consisting of members from the Flint, Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor area. They have been putting this festival together every year and it has grown to be something quite special among its annual attendees. Rootstand has a huge following of fans and this years fest was bigger and better than ever. Their performances each night were packed with folks of all ages, dancing like it was the end of the world!

There were two stages featuring constant live music. The huge main stage resembled an alien spaceship with flickering lights. Within a short walk was another, more intimate stage, within a beer garden. There was plenty of vendor shopping, good food and even a beautiful sunset wedding among the cherry trees. Rootenanny also received a special visit from a lit up UFO and some friendly dancing aliens!

The Rootenanny Music Fest was truly an amazing time. It is one of the cleanest and most well organized music festivals around. It was a fabulous weekend filled with fantastic music, wonderful weather, and some of the most happiest, friendliest, dancing folks around.
