There is something afoot in Second Samuel GA. The small fictional town is the setting for Lionheart Theatres' latest production, Second Samuel. The whole town has been turned upside down by the death of local Miss Gertrude and a big secret that is out of the bag.
The action takes place in three separate locations: Miss Gertrudes' front porch, the beauty salon (gathering place for the women-folk), and the local bar (gathering place for the men-folk). The set design, by Tanya Caldwell and director Amy Szymanski is perfect for the show. In addition, the lighting design by Gary White aids in the transition between each location, making the action seamless and easy to follow.
The entire ensemble give a strong performance of this funny and heartwarming script. The cast is lead by Joel Coady in the role of B-Flat. Coady gives a performance worthy of a standing ovation as he brings this special character to life. He and the rest of the cast are certain to put a smile on your face.
Due to some of the content in the show, I would recommend it for ages 13 and older. The ticket price also includes complimentary dessert at intermission, a tradition Lionheart is famous for. I had the coconut cake, and boy was it delicious.
Audiences can catch Lionheart Theatre's Second Samuel through March 24. Tickets are $12-$15 and may be reserved by calling 678-938-8518 or visit the Lionheart Theatre website.
Oh and what's the big secret? You will have to head to Lionheart Theatre and see the show to find out!
