For any artist, shopping for art supplies can be both enjoyable and frustrating. To limit the experience to purely enjoyable, that's where Blick Art Materials comes in. Located off of Delmar Blvd between Noodles & Company and Pizazz, Blick is a tidy little store that seems to expand once you’re inside. From acrylic paints to woodworking, Blick has every art supply in the alphabet and a friendly staff member to help you find what you need. Gamblin, Liquitex, Winsor & Newton and Rembrandt are just a few of the brands that they sell, along with their own name-brand supplies, all price-ranged from the more experienced artists to those still pinching pennies. Weekly adds can be found in-store or online with coupons up to 70% off. For those more prone to online shopping, dickblick.com makes it easier than handing money to a cashier. Art supplies are broken down alphabetically into items and brand names, with visuals and sub-categories such as which paints are best for crafts, fabrics, etc. A nifty facts and questions section and list of helpful books and videos can be found at the bottom of every page making the online process hard to pass up; but with the store tucked nicely within the Delmar Loop, both options are a must. An added bonus for artists is the bulletin board in back where business cards can be posted, or the 'for artists' section online featuring an artists' forum and featured artists section where locals can share their work. Parking can be found behind the store but is limited, and there’s plenty of eatery in walking distance. To every artist, starving or not, Blick Art Materials is a resource that shouldn’t be overlooked.
