Mardi Gras celebrations are officially under way at Universal Studios in Orlando. Every year from February through April the theme park hosts a Mardi Gras concert series and making a return to Universal after their 2011 performance was Lifehouse who got the festivities going on February 9.
The band's new album Almeria was released in December and this was the first opportunity many fans had to hear some of the new tunes live. The set list was a mix of popular hits including "You and Me," "First Time," "Hanging By a Moment," and older fan favorites "Spin" and "Take Me Away." From Almeria Lifehouse performed their current single "Between the Raindrops" which was recorded with Natasha Bedingfield and the rumored second single "Nobody Listen." The haunting "Only You're the One," "Right Back Home," and "Gotta Be Tonight" were among other new songs performed in front of a packed house that stretched beyond the venue and into the street. Lead singer Jason Wade threw everyone in the first few rows into a frenzy by coming down off the stage and to the rail several times during the show. Fans clamored to get a hand shake and close-up photo of Wade. After a run of radio station gigs and acoustic sets to promote Almeria, the kick off concert at Universal brought fans back to the full Lifehouse experience.
