If you want to eat a warm panino and have your afternoon gelato in the first public building of the City of Coral Gables, designed by George Merrick himself, then you need to head over to the Liberty Caffé located in the historic Coral Gables Country Club.
The building dates back to 1921 when it was part of the city's original plan and shortly after it became the epicenter for the community. After almost 100 years, Toronto based company The Liberty Entertainment Group; masterminds behind Cibo Ristorante in Miracle Mile and soon in Miami Beach; that specializes in historic renovations, took over the space and made into the beautiful country club we can enjoy today.
The Liberty Caffé is located in the southwest corner of the building, with an antique façade and European feel. The food is casual but very well made and the staff is friendly and accommodating. This is the perfect spot for breakfast, a fresh and delicious lunch, afternoon espresso or maybe after exercising or playing a round of golf. The cafe is very accessible, with plenty of parking and it is just one of those places that you can always go back to with your tablet or laptop, log on to their free wifi, and spend a couple of hours catching up with work or simply relaxing.
Oh, and the decadent gelato is homemade... and the French macarons are out of this world...
