I was so pleased to receive these products from Lakeshore Learning Resources. My seven year old son, Dominic, is in 2nd grade, and we are always looking for cool educational products to give him a little boost.
One of the software products received was Place Value Quick Shot! This is a Math game, that allows students to shoot, score and master essential math concepts as they race to complete challenging place value problems. This arcade-style game motivates children to solve two and three digit place value problems in 60 second rounds. At the end of each round, the game tallies up the score and records the child's answers on the detailed report. The students can trade in their tickets for fun prizes...or keep on playing to earn tickets for even better, more valuable prizes! Best of all, this software allows the parent to create and save files for every student playing, so each one can return to the game and pick up where they left off. Progress can be monitored by the parent, or teacher at any time.
The next two were geared toward learning phonics...Phonics Quiz Interactive Game Show and Can Do! Interactive Phonics Awareness Game. Both of these games, make phonics practice more exciting than ever! When students compete as contestants on these interactive game shows, they get the focused practice they need to master phonemic awareness.
The next two were really exciting, and a little challenging for Dominic, as they are designed for children in grades 3 & 4, but even so, he did enjoy them quite a bit, especially the game designed to teach Science, Solar System. Children compete as contestants on a mad scientist's wacky game show and learn about the solar system! The animated game show features level-appropriate questions that quiz kids in 3 categories, including planets and moons, asteroids, comets and meteors and the sun. This is an awesome introduction to the solar system and a great learning tool!
Last, but certainly not least, we have the Bubble Pop! Math Challenge Interactive game. In this game, kids race to solve skill building math problems in 4 different categories by popping bubbles that show the correct answers, before they splash into the pond!
Each one of these games are a great addition to any learning tools that you may want for your child and Lakeshore Learning Resources offers interactive software for various age groups, so I'm confident there is something appropriate for any child!
