Finding a restaurant with an ethnic specialty that does not involve compromising on quality and authenticity can often be challenging task. La Cabana D’ Oswego happens to be one of those restaurants that offers authentic Mexican cuisine with high-quality ingredients and preparation. Located just west of Oswego High School on Route 71 in Oswego Plaza, La Cabana D’ Oswego has been serving outstanding Mexican cuisine to the community for a number of years.
Fresh ingredients combined with authentic recipes and skillful preparation is evident throughout the La Cabana menu. Guacamole lovers can take great delight in the freshly prepared onsite guacamole using real, fresh avocados – no inexpensive imitations here, and the flavor and consistency are evidence to that fact. Perfectly seasoned, blended, and skillfully prepared, the flavors really shine through, served with freshly prepared home-made chips. Of course, the standard Mexican menu items such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and fresh chips and home-made salsa are all available – the bonus is that it is all made fresh, on-site, with a care in preparation representative of skilled preparation, recipes, and technique. For example, the seasoning of the fresh salsa has enough of each individual component that combine in the right proportion to produce a flavor greater than the sum of its parts. Additionally, the Enchiladas Suizas, for example, is a chicken enchilada filled with perfectly cooked and still moist and tender chicken, covered in melted Chihuahua cheese which, cooked just right, remains firm and stretchy without becoming greasy, and then topped with a home-made green “salsa verde” unique recipe that is equally flavorful and hot without overpowering the rest of the dish, or inundating the diner with an overwhelming heat. This principle remains true across each menu item, resulting in a consistency and quality that makes for a superior dining experience.

Combination plates include variations on tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, fajitas, and other Mexican specialties and, again, the preparation and ingredients result in high quality dishes. Prices range from $7 to $13 for the “Specialties” and “Combination” plates. La Cabana also features a variety of alcoholic beverages from beer, domestic and imported, and margaritas among other selections. The décor and menu are typical Mexican Restaurant color and design, and the staff is friendly and attentive.
