L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Even Day Cream SPF 30 (Photos)

L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Even Day Cream SPF 30. A name I will never forget. When I bought this cream, I thought this would be a great moisturizer that would not only protect me from the sun, but also help with some of the dark marks that I had. And boy oh boy was I surprised. Let's get into this review, shall we?

From the back of the packaging, the moisturizer claims:

1. This rich, hydrating formula prevents future discolorations from forming while minimizing the appearance of existing dark spots for a more even, radiant and youthful complexion.

2. This cream formula contains SPF 30 to prevent dark spots from forming and protect skin from harmful and damaging UV rays.

Before I bought this cream, I spoke to the cosmetics representative at Walgreens. I asked her, "How good is this moisturizer?" She told me, "To be honest, this product has not been selling well at all." That should have been a warning to me right there, but I thought maybe it was because of the price tag. At the time I bought it, the price was $20. From what I have been seeing online, the price is still about $20-$24. If you are on a budget, this product is not budget friendly.

The ingredients are pretty standard. The first couple of ingredients are water and glycerin. But as you get further into the list, you will see dimethicone and fragrance. And I will warn you that if you are fragrance sensitive, then this is not the product for you. I cannot describe the smell. But the fragrance is definitely in there. The packaging is pretty cool, but the cream itself is in a jar.The size of it is 1.60 fl. oz. It is a pretty good amount of product, but the jar packaging could have been better. I would prefer it to have been in a bottle or a tube. The color of the cream is white and the consistency was very thick. If you have combination to oily skin, this product will be greasy. If you have dry skin, this product could be for you.

This product also claims to illuminate the skin. I sure did not see illumination. I saw a ghost face. I have used moisturizers with SPF 30 and have not came across one that did that. I expect that with moisturizers and sunblock lotions with SPF 40 and higher. Maybe I have been lucky. I felt like this moisturizer just sat on my face.

After a few hours, it finally sunk into my skin. But I was a hot greasy mess. I was constantly blotting my face. I cannot say whether this product will do anything for skin tone. I tried this cream again a few more times before I dished it in the trash. Maybe someone else with dry skin could try this and get a different result. But I know I will never buy this product again. A pure shame since I had high hopes for it.

Pros:

  • Beautiful box packaging
  • SPF 30

Cons:

  • Jar packaging
  • Too much fragrance
  • Combination/Oily skin beware, dry skin could benefit

Rating: 2/10
