Krafty Krepes leaves something to be desired for La Jolla coffee drinkers

The La Jolla Shores draw in a number of visitors each year with their entertaining wild sea lions and upscale restaurants. While a delicious dinner might be a cinch to find, it’s much more challenging to find a simple dessert and coffee place.

Krafty Krepes is a sweet and savory crepe shop that lies along the shore in the main district of La Jolla. It offers a wide variety of crepes, from ham and cheese to raspberry mousse. Krafty Krepes also serves a few different types of coffee to accompany their crepes.

While the crepe was fantastic and the portion size was large, the simple cup of coffee with cream and sugar was just okay. It tasted much like Folger’s or another brand found at local grocery stores, and it was a bit on the weak side. The cream was plain old milk, and the sugar was the kind found in the cheap white packets. Coffee purists typically like to have their coffee strong and often black so they can taste the complex blend of flavors and the bite that makes a brew special. However, this coffee had no bite, and no flavor.

Krafty Krepes is simply not a coffee shop, and coffee is not the priority. Their dessert crepes are decadent, rich, and sophisticated, but their coffee seemed somewhat like an afterthought. The search for La Jolla’s best cup of coffee continues.
