West Coast hip-hop legend Kokane announced today his forthcoming album "Shut Da F Up & Cut Da Checc!" will release January 10, 2014 via his independent imprint Bud E Boy Entertainment. "Shut Da F Up and Cut Da Checc!" boasts all new music with featured appearances from: Busta Rhymes, Daz, Kurupt, Cold 187um, B Legit, Richie Rich, E3, Leezy Soprano and Ms. Aanisah C. Long aka ACL Da Boss, and more. Kokane is also featured on the title song for "Grand Theft Auto V: Los Santos" along with MC Eiht, Freddy Gibbs. The group performed live during the Spike TV VGX Awards 2013 which aired last night, Dec. 9, 2015 on the Spike TV Network.
"Shut Da F Up & Cut Da Checc!" is a 16 track master blend of funk and hip hop featuring some of the top names in the industry including, Busta Rhymes, Kurupt of the Dogg Pound, Daz Dillinger and production by some of the most talented minds ever to sit in the production lab. Featured producers for this project include Mtume, Skip & Nuk, and Johnny Blaze to name a few.
Overall Rating: 4/5 stars…because nobody's perfect!
Track 2 "Stay Winning" produced by Moon Man is a seriously motivational piece with an addicting track which Kokane rides in a manner expected of a seasoned pro.
Track 5 "What I" Ft. Busta Rhymes produced by Skip & Nuk is a reminder to those who came up with you that they aren't owed a piece of your success unless they have worked for it.
Track 10 "501 Bluez" Ft. Daz Dillinger and produced by WestCoast Stone and Jerry B. Long has the possibility to be a true classic. This cut stays true to the original West Coast style but adds that George Clinton funk which makes it one of my favorites on the album.
Track 15 "Dear Lord" produced by Anthony P. Johnson tells the story of a street hustler getting his wake up call…this song is particularly poignant and competes with "501 Bluez" as one of the more memorable tracks of the project.
Track 16 "What It's Like to be Me" Ft. Aanisah Long, produced by Moon Man, Billy Patron and Jacob Martin is exactly what the title makes you expect, a life story from the artists' perspective and is particularly well done. Aanisah Long is a new artist making her debut on this project and at age 14, she holds her own with the rest of the pros!
Kokane is one of the most featured West Coast hip hop artists outside of the late Nate Dogg and has garnered the respect of major artists across the US. His latest single, "What I" Ft. Busta Rhymes is exploding across the music scene via clubs and radio on both coasts.

Overall, this album could ease its way into some award situations as the production value, song quality and featured artists certainly take us outside of the record industry standard of chants and 2 word songs which assault us on the radio waves daily.
