Knott's Berry Farm

Hi readers!
Today's review is on Elvira's new show at Knott's Berry Farm! During this first week of October, I've been on vacation in Orange County, CA and spent a good 7+ hours at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park during their annual Halloween Haunt event on Thursday, October 3rd, 2013. Here's my review...

The Park: Knott's Berry Farm is a theme/roller coaster park located in Buena Park, CA. The park is 160 acres, which is about average. My online ticket cost $34.99, originally $52, according to their online discount of $18. There are several roller coasters and games, but not all are operating during this event, at least during my visit.

The Theme: The Halloween Haunt is an annual event hosted at Knott's, from the end of Sept to the beginning of November. There are many ghoulish characters that run around freely through the thick fog on the streets and scare you as you explore the park. I believe there are about 12 haunted mazes/houses throughout the park that have a very professional and dedicated cast/crew. You have the option to take photos just before entering the mazes and picking/viewing them after, prices range from $20-45. My friend and I purchased the park's Pre-Scare Boo-Fet dinner and gained early access to the park, allowing us to experience everything without a large crowd. There was also a professional half hour-outdoor-pop-culture show, featuring bloody fight scenes between characters from The Wizard of Oz, Kickass, Marvel Comics, Disney, Star Wars, and today’s pop stars, which was all in good fun. The show included ertain language that may not be suitable for children, but that’s up to the parent.

The Show: Elvira's Sinema Séance is a very fast-paced show (30-45 mins) in the Ghoultime Theatre at Knott's Berry Farm, which is included in your ticket price. The show features outstanding dance numbers by The Academy of Villains from America's Got Talent, prerecorded dance tracks by Elvira, and up-to-date pop culture references and jokes by the Mistress of the Dark, herself. Elvira takes a few volunteers from the audience during her show and has a good 15 minute video of her in hilarious reenactments of movies we all know and love, which unfortunately, had a terrible delay with sync issues in audio/video during this examiner's visit.

Elvira: At 62 years young, this iconic gothic-valley girl looks absolutely gorgeous on stage. (One of her jokes being that we've all aged and she looks exactly the same since the 80s). The Mistress of the Dark had 2 shows, one at 9:30pm and another at 12:30am, again, the show is included in your admission fee. She reminded me of a few drag shows I've seen over the years.

My opinion: In all, the Halloween Haunt at Knott’s Berry Farm was a total thumbs up for me. If you have the money, I definitely approve this place for a frightening date night, family outing, or a group of friends night out.

I hope you found this review helpful and informative.
