King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard: 'Eyes Like The Sky' (2013)

It's a little hard to describe just how cool this album is, but I'll try.

"Eyes Like The Sky" by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (already awesome just by name alone) is a very bold and daring vision... this is very much a concept album.

There are no vocals in the traditional sense, but rather a narrator telling a story... throughout the entire album... one story. And the story is a western- and quite a good one! The story is written and narrated by Broderick Smith.

Instrumentally tracks range from a surfy Garage Rock sound to straight Native American percussion circles- but all the styles are dipped in a grungy western theme- sounding like a more down and dirty take on Ennio Morricone's spaghetti western soundtracks- perfectly suiting to the story and themes.

Altogether "Eyes Like The Sky" is a very unique and spectacular performance, proving a story heard only through the ears and projected into our imagination can still be just as powerful and entertaining as anything Hollywood has to offer.
