I was recently asked to review KIND snack bars and granola, and it was a wonderful treat for our whole family. We were already fans of these all natural, gluten free products, but we are even bigger fans with some new favorites after sampling most of the line.
KIND describes their products as:
· KIND Fruit & Nut – Our original line of bars, made from whole nuts and fruits.
· KIND PLUS – KIND Fruit & Nut bars with an additional all-natural boost of nutrients like protein, fiber, and antioxidants.
· KIND Nuts & Spices – Our newest line of bars made from delicious whole nuts and sophisticated spices that are naturally low in sugar (5g or sugar or less!), high in fiber and a good source of protein.
· KIND Healthy Grains – Our line of granola that is made of a 100% whole grains and is lower in sugar, calories and fat than typical granolas.
Some of the great things about KIND bars are:
- They are made of nutrient-dense, whole foods like nuts, seeds and dried fruit.
- They are gluten free.
- They're non-GMO.
- They're high in protein and fiber (most varieties).
- They're low sugar (most varieties).
- Many have added Omega-3 and flax.
- They are all natural.
- They're certified Kosher.
KIND says of their philosophy:
KIND is a brand of all natural whole nut and fruit bars made from ingredients you can see and pronounce and it's also a movement that gives new purpose to snacking.
At KIND we do things a bit differently.
KIND was founded on the principle of holistic kindness, and we pride ourselves on creating new paths that avoid false compromises. Instead of "Or" we say "And". We choose healthy and tasty, convenient and wholesome, economically sustainable and socially impactful.
We sampled almost all of the current KIND snack bars and two varieties of KIND grains -- Maple Walnut with Chia and Quinoa, and Cinnamon Oat Clusters with Flax Seeds.
The verdict: All of our family members really liked the products. Here were our favorites:
My five year-old son, who is allergic to gluten and casein, doesn't like nuts and didn't like some of the bars because they are mostly nuts. Some of the bars do contain dairy, so he didn't sample those. That said, he liked the fruit based bars even with the nuts in them and loved the Pomegranate Blueberry Pistachio + Antioxidants and the Almond and Apricot.
My nine year-old son also preferred the bars with fruit, chocolate or yogurt, although he liked all of them. His favorites were Peanut Butter and Strawberry, Dark Chocolate Cherry Cashew + Antioxidants and Fruit & Nuts in Yogurt.
My thirteen year-old daughter also loved them, and hounded me constantly for more. Her favorites were Cranberry Almond + Antioxidants, Pomegranate Blueberry Pistachio + Antioxidants and Nut Delight. She liked all of the chocolate ones, too.
My fourteen year-old loved them, too. Her favorites were Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt and Cashew and Ginger Spice.
All of my kids requested KIND bars for dessert every night until we ran out, which I think is a pretty good testimony for a healthy snack.
For myself, I couldn't narrow it down to just two or three. I did think the ones with fruit and yogurt were especially wonderful.
The granola was also a hit. My son and I didn't sample it since we avoid oats (even gluten free oats). My older kids happily ate it all up with almond milk and as a snack straight from the bag.
Like their other products, the granola is certified gluten free.
KIND bars retail for $1.99 and are available through the KIND website and sources like Amazon.com for less if you buy in bulk. Both sites offer free shipping.
KIND grains (granola) retail at $5.99 and are also available for less when ordered in bulk from the KIND website or Amazon.com.
All of my kids have asked me to order lots more KIND bars on a regular basis in our house. I liked them so much (from a health standpoint and a taste standpoint) that I plan on doing so.
I am happy to recommend KIND products and the KIND company.
